What Is MAREA? (Continued)MAREA MeetingsMAREA presents programs of interest to members on the first Wednesday of each month from September through May. Except for the Christmas luncheon in December, the meetings begin at 9:20 a.m. in the Riley County Senior Service Center located at 4th and Leavenworth in Manhattan, Kansas. Prior to each regular meeting there is a visitation period beginning at 9:00 a.m. during which coffee and desserts are provided. This time also allows members to informally meet and to visit with the invited speaker.
Picture compliments of Tom Hawk Photography At the start of a program members are asked to join in singing of a song and the Pledge of Allegiance. The main program then begins. This normally involves a 20-30 minute presentation by the speaker followed by a question and answer period. After the main program there usually is a brief business segment during which committee reports and other items of interest are presented and discussed. Frequently, following the close of the meeting around 10:30 a.m. there is an offer for members to continue the fellowship over lunch a little later at an area restaurant. Visitors are welcome anytime! Copyright© 2003
