Tours 2005-2006

Tour I
 LINDSBORG, KANSAS

    October 19, Wednesday, 2005
    Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
       Bus will leave NW corner of Mall parking lot at 8:30 a.m.
    Arranger:  Jack Larson                                 
    Cost: $13 for admission fees & bus

     In Lindsborg we will tour arts works in; 1) United Methodist Church, 2) Bethany Lutheran Church, 3) Anton Pearson Woodcarving Studio, and 4) Birger Saudzen Memorial Art Gallery.  Lunch will be at "Swedish Pastry" which specializes in Swedish pancakes and Swedish meatballs. After lunch there will be time to stroll and shop on a two block area of Main Street.

Tour II
Historical Ft. Riley

    February 15, Wednesday, 2006
    Time:  8:30 a.m. noon
         Bus will load at, and leave from, the NW corner of the
         Mall parking lot at 8:30 a.m.  All passengers will need
         a photo ID (drivers license or equivalent).
    Arranger: Karen Rappoport
    Tour Guide: Connie Hall
    Cost: $1.00 suggested donation for the Cavalry Museum
         tour + bus transportation (amount to be announced)

     This excursion includes; 1) a driving tour of Historical Ft. Riley,  2) a tour of the U.S. Cavalry Museum,  3) a guided tour of Custer House, and 4) a self-guided tour of Ft. Riley Regimental Museum.

Tour III
MEADOWLARK HILLS RETIREMENT
COMMUNITY

  April 5, Wednesday, 2006
  Time: 9:30 a.m. Car pools start from NW corner of Mall
                               parking lot.
   Program/Business Meeting:  10:00 a.m. in the Meadowlark
                                                    Community Room   
   Speaker: Jeff Chapman, Director of Fund Development,
                    Marketing & Public Relations
   Lunch:  11:30 a.m. in the Meadowlark Community Room
   Tours:  12:30 p.m. Divide into groups and visit areas of the
                Meadowlark campus.
   Arrangers: Floyd Price & Liz Beikmann
   Cost:  Lunch (price to be determined)

What do the dues do?
State dues provide, among other things, a dedicated voice in the Kansas legislature speaking for retired school personnel.   MAREA unit dues support the monthly meetings, an annual yearbook, and a semiannual newsletter. They also contribute to our scholarship awards and to the costs of distributing information of interest to retired educators.
